The last time I went to the doctor to have my next eye check up, he shared some tips on me on how to maintain healthy eyes. He told me that it is very important to take good care of our eyes because it plays an important role in our daily living. So being generous, I also wanted to share it to you the tips to ensure that we are seeing the best.
Discover your family’s eye health history
Take a time to talk with your family or to your parents about the health condition of the family so far. Recognize if there are members of the family that suffers from eye diseases or complication so that you might be aware because some eye diseases are hereditary. For this will help you assess yourself if you are more risk and do some adjustment to protect your eyes.
Practice good eating habit
If you are the person who doesn’t care about the foods you’re eating, well, this is not a good habit. One of the best practices to simply protect your eyes is to eat right. It is advisable if we are more on fruits and vegetables like dark leafy green such as spinach, kale, or collard green. Based on the study, eating fish that is high in omega is also recommendable like salmon and tuna.
Secure the desirable weight
Apart from good eating habit, we also need to maintain a healthy weight in accordance with our age. Being overweight and obese to the extent are much prone in gaining eye problems. They are risky in developing eye problem because of the unhealthy and poor eating habit. They might also lack in a proper exercise that leads them being obese. So make sure that you are conscious and aware with your latest weight.
Used eyewear
If you are a sporty man make sure that you always wear a protective eyeglass to avoid unwanted incidents. Nowadays, there are lots of protective glasses that are visible in the market. You can buy goggles, safety shields, and eye guards. Some clinics provide and sell protective eyewear so don’t worry about this.
Avoid smoking
It is very important to know how bad smoking is for our health. To be specific, smoking has a direct effect in the condition of our eyes. Based on research, smoking can lead you to different eye problems like macular degeneration, cataract, and optic nerve damage. All of these problems can lead you to blindness if you don’t make an action regarding this matter.
